Recieved this letter last Friday.
This is something I wish to compete in, in 2010. I have a strong desire to "race" this thing not just complete. I will only do this with a crew that is willing to race and commit as hard as I am. Oh yea and the budget, well its big and I don't have it but I hope to achieve it as well.
Got-ta eat.
Spent some time combining, counting, bagging, rationalizing, predicting, visualizing, and even a little tasting of the calories I will be eating in AK. Food drops are being mailed today. 10,000 calories in each, give or take. Same old candy and nuts, as I stroll through the supermarket aisles but this year I will be carrying a thermos so I have included some dried foods to treat myself to on the trail. Potatoes, oatmeal, and ramen.
Beautiful ride on Sunday.
Into the hills,
then right into Granit hot springs. Aaahhhh!

"World's Toughest Bicycle Race." Hmmph. You'd be the expert on this, but haven't you competed in at least a couple of races that are tougher? ;-) Great food! Yummy.JayP said on February 17, 2009 at 6:50 AM

Hey Jay, Congratulations on the invite to compete in the RAAM. You really earned it. As for all your feelings about doing the ITI, that's certainly understandably. As you well know, under the best of circumstances it is a grueling long event. Then last year, all the obstacles you hit head on, which seemed to be a constant, there seemed to be no amount of planning or strategizing for. Hope the knee is improving and you are feeling strong. As I put on your plaque, first take care of yourself. You know, as of March 1st, I'll be on the computer following the race, you and Tracey. Looks like some good eats on that table, um,um,um. Proud of you, kiddo!! Love, Mom
